Team Building

I’ve had 10093 blogs in the past 5 years but I like the idea of having a tumblr after being talked into it today.

So I thought it’s be a good idea to blog about the things that go into working with youth…which in general works like this:

Progress….

Progress….

They might still be listening….

Now 5 steps back and they hate you…

As awful as I just made working with middle school/high school and even some elementary school aged children sound, it is by far the most rewarding and beautiful work I’ve ever had in my life.

Let me relay an improv session I heard from two middle school boys after school the other day:

“This is God, May I take your order?”

“Yes, I’d like 2 angel wings extra meaty please.”

“That will be 4 souls, pull up to the first window.”

Ah, the witt at such a young age. Though I was tearing from laughter, I couldn’t help but think if I could’ve been so funny at age 12……

Nevertheless, there is always room to grow these children, to help them progress, to help them evolve, to love them deeper, to encourage them more, to listen and stand by them as an advocate more frequently and with much more fervor.

Hence, My situation as a suburban aid to the youth….When do they need you?

When cellphones and ipods and wiis and video games are abundant, where do relationships fit?

Are relationships obsolete?

Where does a “Team Building” Club fit in?

Well, tomorrow I have team building club, and since I’m averaging 4 kids per week in Dance class, my expectations for Team Building is low.

I’m accepting suggestions now…
